I am one of the plenty who despise the “Click here to activate” message in IE. This was a major pain in our development and the only way was to circumvent it via an external javascript file.

This was automatically integrated in Dreamweaver CS3 and took this into consideration. While browsing the latest code for SWFObject on Google I stumbled upon this link: http://www.swffix.org/devblog/?p=19

Which is pretty good news. So these would come into effect about now. However, we never know about clients, and the relunctancy of users and IT people to upgrade so I do not know for how long that this shift would be completed. At least, it is a wonderful move in the right direction.

For more info on SWFObject (at the time of this blog, it is at version 2) click here.
